New Quilt

I have started a new quilt- it is a fall harvest quilt using the churn dash block - I am in the cutting stage but will post pictures as I go along- It has been a long time since I have been inspired or had the energy to start a quilt- I want this to be a Christmas present so I will make the top and my seamstress daughter Amy will do the machine quilting - She is much faster then I am and probably more precise- Cutting it out tonight made me realise how much I have missed quilting and how much I need to focus on my craft - We all need down time and for me it is spending hours in the sewing room-

Plowing Match

Photo's of quilt and Little Sprouts Tent

Plowing Match

The International Plowing Match was held in Earlton a small community near my home- This event housed 80,000 visitors which is unheard of in the northern area of the province of Ontario- The playgroup my grandson attends asked us to create a kids quilt to display in their tent- We had the kids colour a fall block and then put togeather the blocks.
The Little Sprouts tent offered an area for the little ones to go during the event and play = they also provided a baby change area and breast feeding private spot and had entertainment for the kids. This was a special quilt that will be displayed at the playroom in the center for the Ontario Early Years.

Teddy Bear Quilt

This is a crayon quilt which was created for a co-workers daughter - She does not know what she will be having yet and the theme for the nursery is Teddy Bears- It is such a fun way to do a quilt - using crayons a hot iron and presto instant quilt- This is a perfect quilt for baby or young child.

Fabric Sale

We had a Flea Market in town that had a wonderful fabric selection. The Flea Market was sold a few years ago and the new owner let the material section go way down- The good news is the original owner has taken the Flea Market back and tomorrow is having a sale on the existing cotton--$1.00/meter- How great is that- Now I am aware that I will have to be there at 7:30 tomorrow morning and truly battle other eager quilters- LOL -- I am up for the challenge ! Wish me luck!
